91% Isopropyl Alcohol

So at around the beginning of a new day, I was bored, hyped on caffeine, and hungry. I saw a colon cleansing pill infomercial on TV (basically cat litter in a pill form) and wanted to make an infomercial of my own. I closed my eyes, pointed to my desk and said I'm going to make an ad to try to sell the thing I'm pointing to. I pointed to a bottle of 3/4 used 91% isopropyl alcohol I bought from Wal-mart literally ages ago. It 'expired' in 05/2007. So it breaks down into it's chemical components eventually; if organic chemistry is your forté, then feel free to slam in the comments.

Ever have those times when water just isn't up to the cleaning task? Like when you're trying to get fingerprints off of your glasses, that nasty grease from working on toys, or the dirt that sticks behind arrow points that missed their target and hit the dirt? Sure you can use water to clean things, it does it's job fairly well... except when you're trying to clean. Enter 91% isopropyl alcohol! This new product uses clinically proven clean evaporating technology that virtually disappears taking scroungy old dust, grease, and skin oil with it!

Previously, this man used ordinary well water to clean his lenses, see all those streaks left behind? Watch as this medical doctor takes those streaks off in less than 5 seconds with the groundbreaking technology that's put into 91% isopropyl alcohol! WOW! You would swear he's using the most popular window cleaner that costs five times as much!

And this man, who tries to clean his desk with plain water, see how it just spreads the grease around? Water is no match for 91% isopropyl alcohol! Watch as this maid cleans up his mess with it. Instantly all that grease is gone.

Now for that nasty job of maintaining toys. Just look at all that dirt and mud that stuck to that arrow. Water just leaves microscopic specks of dirt left, but to users of 91% isopropyl alcohol, that is still dirty as a landfill on free dump day. Now lets use 91% isopropyl alcohol's revolutionary dirt cleaning power that was discovered by a mom to clean it. Simply put a swab into the solution and wipe the dirty area. --- No more dirt! AMAZING!

Normally 1 bottle would cost you $5 at the local department store. But you won't pay $5, not even $3, but only 1 payment of $2! You will never see this deal anywhere but on this special TV ad. But wait! There's more! Call right now and we will give you one more bottle absolutely free! That's right, free! Just pay shipping and handling.

Still not enough? Call within the next 5 minutes and we will give you 1 more bottle for $1! Now that's a deal! $3 bottles for only $3. All 3 bottles normally retail for $6, but you can have one bottle, get one bonus bottle and get one half off for a total of $3! Simply amazing, call now!

I created this sales ad for ordinary alcohol because it uses all the jargon that marketing promoters use to sell their clients' products. Jargon being those selling words that trick the viewer into buying the product, otherwise it wouldn't sell. Some of the selling words I use are: clinically proven, free, simply, special, revolutionary, discovered by a mom (or anything involving moms or teachers), virtually, and medical doctor. These words have a profound effect on television viewers; it impacts them personally. This, I guess is the whole point of an ad, but it's all cliché. It's so easy to make an ad these days, but it's hard to make a good one.

Guarder SP120 Full Tune-Up Kit (M16A2) Review

Great Tune Up Kit!

Rating: 5/5

Pros: Tough, Aesthetically Pleasing, Works With Many Guns, Good Value, Easy To Install

Cons: Doesn't Pay My Taxes, Fitting Required

Best Use: Field or Mid-Range

Bought at: Airsoft Sport Unlimited

Great job Guarder on making durable parts. I have had this kit in my gun for well over 50,000 rounds and have yet to see any part break except for 1, the piston head.
Let's start with the bushings. These have thick rims to them, and some gears will grind if you use them with the bushings. They have double oil rings inside to hold lube and keep the gear axles friction-free for the most part.

Speaking of gears, these ones are like Timex, they take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. They are strong suckers, silent, and easy to shim if you know how, though the sector gear may touch the bottom of some pistons.

The piston is awesome, but not the toughest on the market. It's a polycarbonate so it won't last forever, but it lasted about 40,000 shots before I got a replacement one. Be sure to correct for Angle of Engagement (AoE).

The piston head has a very minute crack that I did not want to risk after about 40,000 shots, so I got an aluminum head which works fantastic. While it worked, it was nice and provided excellent compression. It did not warp or break and had a bearing. Be sure to tighten it well or it will fall off in your gearbox.

The spring gets 400 fps consistently, but it has gone down to about 395 in my m16. I tested it the day I wrote this review, which is also the same day I posted the demonstration. I have had this in my gun for many months. I bought the M16 kit and it had a solid, type 0 cylinder that has no port. It is shiny on the inside but looks like it has a coating that could wear off, be sure to lube it a little.

The spring guide is well made and won't crack or break easily, the same with the cylinder head which has dual o-rings. This head has taken a beating from a 500 fps spring and still no damage to the pad or the steel. The nozzle even has an o-ring that provides great compression seal.

The tappet plate has not broken despite being in contact with non-silicone grease the whole time it's been in my gearbox.

The shim guide on the FTK's box is horrible. Don't go by it, but instead go onto an airsoft forum and browse the shimming guides or have it professionally installed. Also, they didn't ship enough shims with the kit, so I recommend getting some .15mm, .30mm, and .5mm shims as well.

Overall, I recommend this to all of you who know how to work on your gearboxes. This kit will not let you down.

G&G Reinforced Upgraded AEG Piston Review

Tough but requires major fitment

Rating: 3/5

Pros: Aesthetically Pleasing, Tough

Cons: Much Fitting Required

Best Use: 500 fps and below

Bought at: Evike

I can't use this in my gun at this point. The Guarder gears like every piston except this one, heck my JG stock gear didn't even mesh with the teeth of the piston at all, I had to take a saw and saw out the troughs of the teeth JUST so a CA stock gear could mesh...barely. I also had to file the teeth down so that it would fit correctly. Worked great until friction got too great and my CA gear broke a tooth. I will never buy this piston again.

However, it does have its good sides. It's a light piston, has a very strong front with 4 metal teeth for those uber fast guns to avoid pre-engagement stripping or jamming stripping, and a reinforced rear to guard against tough springs holding the piston in place. It also has low friction rails.

You take the choice of either having it not fit in your gun, or having the toughest piston... I don't know, maybe it won't fit in my reinforced CA gearbox shell even when the rails are dremeled a bit.

Airsofting!

Oh joy! Several weeks ago, I found out one of my friends goes "airsofting" almost every week. Me having had one for a year or two and never had the hookups to play with anyone, wanted to try my luck against an "elite" tactics team. Although I had fun, I was an epic failure for many reasons.

  • Ran out of ammo, only had one magazine full (about 30 rounds) per match
  • Tried to face off against upgraded AEG guns with a stock spring gun
  • Never had any prior airsoft experience
  • Couldn't and still cannot match faces to names
  • Didn't know the fields I played on
  • Called a kill when a bb ricocheted off of a picnic table and hit me
Enough of my flaws. Here is my arsenal:

JG BAR-10 Spring Sniper Rifle:
PSS10 150 spring
Custom camo paint (have since added painted netting)
Teflon taped to seal in compression
Scope attached
Bipod attached
Adapter for mock suppressor/barrel extension
Metal spring guide with ball bearings (soon)
Firefly soft hop-up bucking (soon)
DB Custom 630mm x 6.03mm tightbore barrel (soon)
Extra magazine (soon)

Note: the reason these say soon is because they are shipping to me as we speak and are due here by Thursday 7/23. My barrel should be in by Tuesday, however. I can't wait!

As of right this second, the sniper rifle shoots 417 fps with .30 gram BBs and shoots about 100 feet before curving because of my warped stock barrel.

Schmeisser MP-40 AEG Submachine Gun:
All Stock
3 Extra Magazines

I have no sidearm as of yet because I think they are crap since everyone else can kill you in 30 shots in the time you get off 3.

I hope I have many more matches ahead of me and that I learn how to adapt my style to the field I play. Seems fun, but as one starts to get anything but necessary, airsofting can get quite expensive. If you don't mind pain, go in some jeans and a t-shirt. That is much cooler than a fully decked out camo suit. Remember eye protection!

Thanks to Airsoft GI and BB Airsoft World for providing the upgrade parts to my sniper rifle!

Netflix? Online, anytime.

I have had a subscription to Netflix for quite some time, almost half a year. I just recently started watching movies from them because I do not want to scurry to the local Walmart and blow my Arby's fortune on DVDs I'll watch once a year.

Netflix lets me watch any number of their VAST collection for just $10 a month. This includes free shipping both ways, automatic payment renewal, and no late fees (occasionally I have to reschedule my leisure time). I get my movies through the mail in just 3 days or less, which is surprisingly consistent. Some of the ones I have rented are: Gran Torino, Dirty Harry, and Tropic Thunder. I have also streamed some online: Final Destination, Spy Hard, and Spaceballs. Those are just some of the 130 or so I have viewed.

For streaming, Netflix will adjust the quality based on how fast one is able to receive data, therefore, I recommend at least a mid-speed cable connection to get the best quality. I have T1 speed through my provider and while the quality is not on par with blu-ray, it is excellent for being streamed! If your TV is connected to the internet, you can also stream directly to your tv.

Netflix is something revolutionary as I have not seen any other online rental video business near this quality. I think that everyone should give Netflix a try. Hit up the link for more info.

Trying blogs out

Well, I have started a blog. This will have all the really cool and really wack stuff I find online. I will try to keep it rated so children 16+ can view (traditional 16, not today's 16 where they can view everything but naughty images).

I will prowl the web for some interesting things here in the next few days, and I shall report!
