Airsofting!

Oh joy! Several weeks ago, I found out one of my friends goes "airsofting" almost every week. Me having had one for a year or two and never had the hookups to play with anyone, wanted to try my luck against an "elite" tactics team. Although I had fun, I was an epic failure for many reasons.

  • Ran out of ammo, only had one magazine full (about 30 rounds) per match
  • Tried to face off against upgraded AEG guns with a stock spring gun
  • Never had any prior airsoft experience
  • Couldn't and still cannot match faces to names
  • Didn't know the fields I played on
  • Called a kill when a bb ricocheted off of a picnic table and hit me
Enough of my flaws. Here is my arsenal:

JG BAR-10 Spring Sniper Rifle:
PSS10 150 spring
Custom camo paint (have since added painted netting)
Teflon taped to seal in compression
Scope attached
Bipod attached
Adapter for mock suppressor/barrel extension
Metal spring guide with ball bearings (soon)
Firefly soft hop-up bucking (soon)
DB Custom 630mm x 6.03mm tightbore barrel (soon)
Extra magazine (soon)

Note: the reason these say soon is because they are shipping to me as we speak and are due here by Thursday 7/23. My barrel should be in by Tuesday, however. I can't wait!

As of right this second, the sniper rifle shoots 417 fps with .30 gram BBs and shoots about 100 feet before curving because of my warped stock barrel.

Schmeisser MP-40 AEG Submachine Gun:
All Stock
3 Extra Magazines

I have no sidearm as of yet because I think they are crap since everyone else can kill you in 30 shots in the time you get off 3.

I hope I have many more matches ahead of me and that I learn how to adapt my style to the field I play. Seems fun, but as one starts to get anything but necessary, airsofting can get quite expensive. If you don't mind pain, go in some jeans and a t-shirt. That is much cooler than a fully decked out camo suit. Remember eye protection!

Thanks to Airsoft GI and BB Airsoft World for providing the upgrade parts to my sniper rifle!

Netflix? Online, anytime.

I have had a subscription to Netflix for quite some time, almost half a year. I just recently started watching movies from them because I do not want to scurry to the local Walmart and blow my Arby's fortune on DVDs I'll watch once a year.

Netflix lets me watch any number of their VAST collection for just $10 a month. This includes free shipping both ways, automatic payment renewal, and no late fees (occasionally I have to reschedule my leisure time). I get my movies through the mail in just 3 days or less, which is surprisingly consistent. Some of the ones I have rented are: Gran Torino, Dirty Harry, and Tropic Thunder. I have also streamed some online: Final Destination, Spy Hard, and Spaceballs. Those are just some of the 130 or so I have viewed.

For streaming, Netflix will adjust the quality based on how fast one is able to receive data, therefore, I recommend at least a mid-speed cable connection to get the best quality. I have T1 speed through my provider and while the quality is not on par with blu-ray, it is excellent for being streamed! If your TV is connected to the internet, you can also stream directly to your tv.

Netflix is something revolutionary as I have not seen any other online rental video business near this quality. I think that everyone should give Netflix a try. Hit up the link for more info.

Trying blogs out

Well, I have started a blog. This will have all the really cool and really wack stuff I find online. I will try to keep it rated so children 16+ can view (traditional 16, not today's 16 where they can view everything but naughty images).

I will prowl the web for some interesting things here in the next few days, and I shall report!
